Some people this is the best thing ever invented after sliced bread. They come in those little packets, so easy to take with. But, are they really as good as cleansing your face?
There are 3 main type of facial wipes. Makeup removal, cleansing or the most popular one, dual cleansing wipe.
Pro.
They are definitely the fastest way to cleanse away makeup or making your skin feel refreshed. They are handy and some of them do remove heavy make up too. Sometimes after I have cleanse my face and think I have gotten everything off, only a dirty wipe is there to judge me.
Con.
Cleansing wipes sometimes get a bad reputation due to the preservative ingredients found in some brands that can dry out your skin and cause acne. They contain a few ingredients that can be harsh, they frequently contain the surfactant cocamidopropyl betaine as well as fragrances and parabens (chemicals that act as preservatives), which are common sources of irritation for people with sensitive skin.
But it's not just about the wipes themselves. The way you use them can also cause irritation.
All face wipes are the same.
Most certainly not! It's like saying all cleanser and moisturiser are the same. Look out for wipes that suitable for your skin type. Baby wipes sometime can subsite your face wipe. Again, check the ingredient.
Using face wipes for eye make up removal.
Stop. This can cause wrinkle and weaken the skin on your eyelids. They are face wipes, so unless specifically made for eye, please don't use them on your eyes.
The reason why as a facialist, we advice against face wipe. Washing your face involves using a cleanser and water. But with makeup wipes, you're wiping things on the skin to get the oil, makeup and dirt off, You're however leaving some of the residue from the wipes on the skin. So, you will need to remove those too. It is a quick fix, as it's better than going to bed with full make up on.
