We as a nation love the sun. It's because we don't really see much of it. To feel the warmth of the sun hitting our skin on a fine summer day, it's all we ever dream about all year.
For those that can't wait until our summer arrive would have gone on a beach holiday.
We arrived at our destination. Throw our bags into the room, completely and utterly smothered ourselves with SPF. Then we hit the beaches. We gone into the nice cool sea and sipped our cocktails. We have completely forgotten about the sun cream. Until the stinging starts. Our skin started to get sore and angry. Blisters might have already started to form and every tiny brush against the burnt site resulted in absolute agony.
Cover up as soon as you have noticed the burn.
Simple enough right? Just covering the burnt up from the element will help soothing the pain immediately. Better yet, head back into the shade.
Baking soda and oatmeal
Throwing a few heaping tablespoons of baking soda into a bathtub full of cool water and soaking for about 15 to 20 minutes helps minimize sun damage. Adding a cup of oats to the bath also soothes irritation and helps the skin retain its natural moisture.
Don’t scrub your skin, either in the bath or after getting out. Dab yourself dry with a towel — don’t rub.
Aloe Vera
Doesn't need to be a plant, 100% organic gel will do the trick. I keep one in the fridge for such emergency. Just apply 5-6 times though out the day.
Drink lot of water
As your skin is battling the damage from the sun’s rays, it needs moisture that it lost during your time out in the sun. If you aren’t already drinking your eight glasses of water a day, a nasty sunburn should be reason enough to get you to start doing so.
Milk
Not just good for skin care. It is also one of the natural remedies for sun burn! Soak cold milk into a towel and rest onto the burnt site for instant relief. The lactic acid and the vitamin E in the milk protein is the key ingredient. Yoghurt also help too but not a severely burnt site. leave the yoghurt on for about 5 minutes and wash off with clean water.
