We have all seen these types of edited pictures.
Even we know these all have been filtered and edited. We all like into the mirror and wish we look like that.
We will go on a diet, a little nip and tuck here and there. We would spend a lot of money but yet, we are still not satisfied. We wanted more surgeries and went on more diet. We looked into the mirror again, and we still remained unhappy.
Research has shown that 0.7% to 2.4% in the general population are suffering Body Dysmpric Disorder. These studies suggest that BDD is more common than disorders such as schizophrenia or anorexia nervosa. It affects about 1-2% of the adult population and sadly has one of the highest suicide rates of all mental health conditions, with 1 in 50 making an attempt on their life.
According to NHS, you might have BDD if
▪️worry a lot about a specific area of your body (particularly your face)
▪️spend a lot of time comparing your looks with other people's
▪️look at yourself in mirrors a lot or avoid mirrors altogether
▪️go to a lot of effort to conceal flaws – for example, by spending a long time combing your hair, applying make-up, or choosing clothes
▪️pick at your skin to make it "smooth"
BDD can seriously affect your daily life, including your work, social life, and relationships.
